Practical Reliability Seminar/Workshop

Overview

This offering provides both educational material and a framework for implementing a Reliability initiative. The course covers all aspects of the Practical Reliability work process which includes Strategize, Execution and Evaluation. The Strategize section covers asset criticality and the development of asset strategies. Execution covers the work processes that enable the execution of the asset strategies (maintenance, operations, and project engineering). Finally, the Evaluation section covers processes related to monitoring the effectiveness of the asset strategies and failure elimination techniques like bad actor management and root cause analysis. Finally, we cover the process enablers that form the foundation for the entire initiative. 

Description of Service

Below are the typical steps involved in the process:

Strategize

• Asset Criticality - In this module, we will cover the process of determining the relative importance of plant assets as it relates to safety, environmental, production and cost.  This will help determine the appropriate level of failure mitigation that will be required to reduce overall plant risk.
• Asset Strategy Development - In this module we will cover how to define risks (aka failure modes) and the mitigations task required to reduce risk.  The areas in focus for an asset strategy are Material Management, Operator/Maintenance Driven Reliability, Preventive Maintenance, Condition Based Maintenance, Lubrication Management (rotating equipment),  Operational Procedures and Processes, Asset Modification & Redesign (capital improvements) and Compliance Management.

Execute

• Maintenance Work Management - This module will provide a work process for executing maintenance work.  We will cover work identification, planning, scheduling, execution and closure.  
• Operational Work Management - 
• Capital Work Management - 

Evaluation

• Monitoring Asset Strategies -

Duration

This training is typically conducted in a 3 day session.  Our consultants will arrive on site on Monday afternoon to setup the training room.  A typical training day will start at 8:30a and end at 4:00p.  This will allow key personnel to attend morning meetings prior to the training.  Optionally, additional time can be added to help the site develop an action plan to implement the training at the site.
